INTO THE BREECH :  

 

USS Bosch
          The Bosch continued to scan deep. So far, the Klingons had stayed away. Soon, the Lydney would take the Bosch’s place and they would be headed back for some well deserved rest.
          But the Klingons had other plans in mind. They closed rapidly, intent on the space station. The Bosch and her squadron took up their positions. A second squadron was headed in, and the Alliance’s battle group was also on it’s way. That’s when it all went wrong.
          The freighter Eskin had started to run, heading away from the station. But it had just left sensor range when they reported a Klingon cruiser was closing on them. If the Bosch broke off to help the freighter, the station would be defenseless. If they stayed, the freighter would never make it to deep space. Captain Deering of the Bosch did the only thing he could think of. He ordered the Eskin back to the station.
          Now Deering faced an even greater delema. He needed all his firepower to slow the approaching Klingon fleet. And his reinforcements were still minutes away. Yet somewhere out there was another Klingon squadron, closing rapidly.
          Deering decided to face the problem he could see. The Bosch began firing as soon as the first Klingon was in range

 

GAME SET-UP
Lay out two Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheet in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.

Defender
The Defending force consists of:
          1 Liberty Mk III Freighter (USS Eskin)
          1 Babcock Mk II Frigate (USS Bosch)
          1 Kiev Mk I Frigate (USS O'Donnell)
          1 Cerberus Mk I Light Destroyer (USS Fenrir)
          1 Lynch Mk II Light Destroyer (USS Ford)
          1 R-1 Artisan Type 2 Orbital Manufacturing Center (Excavator 1)
          4 Epsilon Mk I Cutters (USS Eta, USS Antioch, USS Kasos, USS Naxos)

On turn 3 the Defending force receives the following re-inforcements:
          1 Jenghiz Mk I Destroyer (USS Ahriman)
          1 Frankfort Mk I Destroyer (USS Karlshalen)
          1 Babcock Mk V Frigate (USS Lindnen)

On turn 4 the Defending force receives the following re-inforcements::
          1 Star League II Mk I Dreadnought (USS Alliance)
          1 Menhaga Mk I Battlecruiser (USS Aldrich)
          3 Enterprise Mk II Heavy Cruiser (USS Lexington, USS Excalibur, USS El Dorado)

Deployment
The Defending force deploys along the left edge of the map. Re-inforcements may enter from the top or bottom of the map.

Attacker
The Attacking force consists of:
          1 L-24a Battleship (IKV Grand Victory)
          1 L-15c Light Dreadnought (IKV Marauder)
          4 D-30c Destroyer (IKV Dreadful, Dagger, Engager, Hailfire)
          1 D-5j Cruiser (IKV Stronghold)
          1 D-31b Battlecruiser (IKV Stormbow)
          1 L-42b Frigate (IKV Wings of Invincibility)

On turn 6 the Attacking force receives the following re-inforcements::
          1 D-23a Command Cruiser (IKV Ageless Tactician)
          4 K-6c Gunboat (IKV )

Deployment
The attacking force enter from the right edge if the map. Re-inforcements may enter from any edge of the map.

Victory Conditions
The attacking force wins a major victory if they can cause 20 points of superstructure damage to the R-1 station or can score a successful Sensor and Bridge hit. The defending force wins a major victory if they can destroyer the L-24 or more than half of the attacking force.

SPECIAL RULES:

Escape:
If the attacking force can meet its objectives, they may attempt to warp out of the combat area. Campaign warp escape rules apply.

Ending:
The scenario ends on turn 12 due to massive Federation re-enforcements.
